A Bit more about me

I am a third generation quilter. My mother, many years ago introduced me to quilting but it never really interested me. All that cutting and resewing perfect points was not for me.
over 10 years ago while browsing in one of her magazines I seen my first painted quilt. It was a Golden Crested Cockatoo by Helen Godden. I got excited when I realised you can paint on quilts. I was hooked.
I taught myself to free motion quilt on You Tube and found this most addictive. I was already a painter so the transfer of this medium to textile was an easy one.

I love that my quilts are not only a piece of art work to be hung on a wall but that they are a tactile item that can be touch and experienced on different levels.
I can never live long enough to create all the quilts in my head.

Quilting has become an integral part of my life and led to me opening a business (Elemental Artspace) that has grown far beyond what I ever imagined it would.

The natural world is my inspiration and features heavily in my work. I especially love animals. I also find inspiration in the fabric itself. There is a world of quilting and art techniques out there and I feel that I am on a life long journey of learning. I enjoy experimenting and trying new things and I feel this is part of the process of developing your own style. I use photographs taken by myself or friends as reference material.
